It's pretty amazing how fast Mr "I rebelled and took over and supposedly will kill you for breathing wrong" XW melts for our Ning-er (who he is the only suitor to call that.) I mean, he finds her eavesdropping on a crucial convo and first words out of his mouth are "give me a reason not to kill you" and he is genuinely asking. (But also her face to see him with that dagger; it must be bringing past life memories.)

And all it takes is her telling she won't tell anyone, which is an insane thing to rely on, and he puts away his dagger!

And then she's brave (or insane) enough to argue with him - to get information she literally says she will announce his secrets to a man who just supposedly almost killed her for same and all he does is bicker. OMG. She is so his weakness!

And then he yells at her for a variety of things but he doesn't harm a hair on her head. Even his underlings are beginning to wonder:
