Sorry for ruining your fun, guys, but that song is sang in Romanian, mixed with a few Russian words and phrases (most likely a Moldovan song) and it’s very unlikely that this page is an actual error page.

A Message To Those That Get Hate For Being SJWs

cankerinahedge:

academyofbrokenhearts:

claudiaboleyn:

What I shall never understand is why there is so much hate towards people like us online.

I have had rape threats, people wishing death upon me, insults on my appearance, insults directed at my family, I’ve been told I’m human scum that needs to kill myself so that we can die out sooner. People tell me they are disappointed that a previous overdose failed and that they hope I will have better luck next time.

You’d think, reading that, that me and people like me were pro-Nazi, or perhaps incredibly violent, or evil human beings. That we’d done something terrible and unforgivable.

In reality, we are Social Justice Warriors. SJWs. A name I have now taken on proudly, because, well, why the hell not? Sure, I want social justice, and hey, the warrior part sounds pretty badass.

The majority of us are from oppressed and marginalised groups, and those that are not, are our friends and allies that see what we go through and want to support us in changing that.

We are speaking out about issues that directly impact us, we are reaching out to others that share our experiences, we are seeking safe spaces online, and some of us are trying to educate those that wish to learn.

I do what I do, despite this constant and unnecessary backlash, because I remember the girl I was as a teenager, ashamed of being queer, trying desperately to hide my depression and anxiety and pretend to be ‘normal’, not wanting to fully embrace one half of who I am and a culture I am part of, because I faced racist comments whenever anyone discovered I was half Indian and that my family were Indian.

That girl needed to be able to find understanding, and she needed to know that she wasn’t alone, and that there are people out there trying to change things.

This is a plea to all those that face hate online for being a SJW.

Do not give up. Do not let them silence you. Don’t let them push you out of the only space space we have. Let their ignorance bounce off you. Remember that all the time people are learning and we are learning too, and we are all moving forward so that the future will be better for the next generation.

Be kind and be tolerant, but don’t think that means you have to take shit.

When there are Nazis on this site, and white supremacists, and homophobes, and yet SJWs are the most hated group, simply for being idealistic and pushing for positive social change and an end to oppression, then the problem is with those people that hate on you, not the other way around.

Feel free to reblog this. It’s just that I’ve seen people getting a lot of hate recently (and I have to), and I wanted to remind you all that you’re brave for standing up for what you believe in, and that one day in the future you’ll be proud of trying to help those that need it.

The future can be better if we want it to be. Don’t give up!

xxx

Just for the record, most of the social justice blogs I follow use the expression “social justice warrior” for someone who uses the fight for social justice as an excuse to bully and mock the people who, according to them, benefit from privilege. Trust me when I say that no reasonable person would want to associate themselves with that bunch.

That being said, I’m sorry that the OP has been threatened, this is horrible and I do not condone this.

"to bully and mock the people who, according to them, benefit from privilege"

This reminds me of people who say that they’re okay with “most” feminists, just not those “extreme” ones (e.g. the ones who won’t coddle men’s feelings, and/or simply the ones you don’t agree with). Or being okay with poor/working-class people who meekly accept their fate (the “respectable poor”), but not so much with those who challenge the status quo via protest.

To anti-SJs and people ignorant of how privilege works, any calling out of problematic/bigoted statements or beliefs is liable to get calling “bullying” or “mocking”. Because to them, calling out undeserved privilege is “just as bad as” centuries of systematic oppression.

No, actually I was referring more to people erasing other people’s identity when said people disagree with them or misusing the term “cultural appropriation” (and acting like complete twats while doing so) or yelling at you to go and GOOGLE THE ISSUE because they don’t have any obligation to educate you (why the fuck do you even call yourself an activist then?) or pretending that men cannot be raped etc.

But I guess it’s more comfortable to think that everyone who opposes social justice warriors is wrong (I bolded the statement since you don’t seem to understand that for us social justice and sjws are two DIFFERENT things) than to try and address the major issues within that group, eh?

"For unclear reasons, even in 2014 we still have a sort of sexual stigma, mostly against women who enjoy sex, especially if it’s frequent and with multiple partners. This, to me, implies a personal sexual dysfunction of the bitchy whiner, rather than the person who enjoys festive boinking, but what do I know? I know that if you’re not spreading disease or children and you’re enjoying it with another responsible, consenting adult, then anyone who complains about your sex life is probably an asshole. Stop calling people names for fucking, yo. It makes you an asshole."
